Our Parish History

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I warmly welcome you to the online home of St. Matia Mulumba Catholic Parish, Old Kampala, a community of faith, hope, and love.
As a parish family, we are united in our mission to grow spiritually, serve selflessly, and witness Christ in our daily lives.
Since my appointment to this parish in 2023, I have been deeply touched by your strong faith, unity, and commitment to the Church. Together, we have continued to strengthen our parish through active participation in the Sacraments, vibrant ministries, and a shared spirit of love and service. I am truly grateful for the journey we have walked together and the growth we continue to experience as one family in Christ.
Our parish is not just a place of worship, but a living community where each person is valued and called to participate actively in the life of the Church. Through the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Sacraments, prayer, and charitable works, we seek to deepen our relationship with God and with one another.
We are especially blessed to be under the patronage of St. Matia Mulumba, one of the revered Uganda Martyrs who gave his life for Christ with unwavering faith and courage. This sacred ground, associated with his martyrdom, stands today as a place of deep spiritual significance and grace. Because of this, our parish has become a holy place of pilgrimage, welcoming many faithful from within Uganda and beyond who come to pray, reflect, and draw inspiration from his heroic witness. Pilgrims who visit this blessed place encounter not only the history of martyrdom, but also a living testimony of faith that continues to strengthen the Church today.
In today’s fast-changing world, we are challenged to remain rooted in the teachings of Christ while responding to the needs of our society with compassion and faith. I encourage each of you to take part in the various ministries and programs of our parish, as we journey together in building a vibrant and Christ-centered community.
